Frequently asked questions

Does this hand cream leave a greasy residue?

No. Although our Hand Cream has a richer texture than our Hand Lotion, it absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving hands feeling greasy or sticky.

What does Refresh Hand Cream do for dry hands?

It is a nourishing hand cream for dry hands that helps soften and moisturise skin on the go. Bergamot, grapefruit, and petitgrain create a fresh, uplifting scent, while the rich yet lightweight formula leaves hands feeling smooth, soft, and hydrated without any greasy residue.

Are hand cream and hand lotion different?

Our 50ml Hand Cream has a richer, more luxurious texture. Made with British marigold and shea butter, it helps nourish and soften dry hands and comes in a pocket-sized tube for care on the go. Our Hand Lotion has a feather-light texture and absorbs quickly without feeling greasy. Enriched with elderflower extract, it comes in a larger pump bottle for everyday hydration.

Is this product vegan?

Yes - this formula is vegan, with no animal-derived ingredients, and is certified cruelty-free. Our formulations are also free of parabens, mineral oils, sulfates, and silicones. We manufacture in the UK and use high-quality, plant-based ingredients inspired by Cowshed's British spa heritage.

Does this product contain parabens?

No, our full range is free of parabens and mineral oils. Cowshed products are vegan, sulfate-free and silicone-free. We are also gluten-free and certified cruelty-free.

Is this product suitable for sensitive skin?

This formula is designed to be gentle and skin-respectful, using naturally derived ingredients, amino acid cleansers, and botanical extracts that help support the skin barrier. We don't use any sulfates or silicones to ensure our products are non-drying. However, as with all skincare, we recommend checking the full ingredient list and carrying out a patch test if you have known sensitivities.

Are the fragrances synthetic or natural?

Our original fragrances were inspired by the walled garden at Babington House in Somerset. Each scent is designed to deliver a sensorial experience, from the calming lavender & eucalyptus of Relax, made for moments when everything feels a little too much, to the energising lemongrass, ginger, & rosemary of Active. Across the range, our formulas are designed to be both effective and considerate, using amino acid cleansing systems, moisture-locking complexes and UK-grown botanicals to support healthy, balanced skin. We blend both natural and synthetic fragrance ingredients to achieve consistent, high-quality scent performance. From the heart and soil of Somerset to your door.

Gorgeous

My hands really suffer in the colder months but since using this hand-cream regularly I've noticed a big improvement. I love the delicate fresh scent too and the excellent absorbency.

Cowshed Handcream

I used to use an expensive handcream and unfortunately it is no longer available so I had to hunt for a replacement. I initially bought my first tube from a shop that had it slightly reduced and bingo this was my new go to handcream. It smell devine and soaks in well and there is no stickyness. Thank you Cowshed

don't think twice about it - just buy

don't hesitate to buy - this is the most luxurious with phenomenal scent hand cream
