Cowshed was born in an English country garden at Babington House in Somerset in 1998. We’ve always had a simple mission: to inject a little country calm into busy lives. Today, our spas and aromatherapy-based products are famous worldwide for their originality, character and uncompromising attitude to quality.

An old cow shed might seem an unlikely place for a spa and range of aromatherapy products to be born, but that's exactly what happened with us. Soho House founder Nick Jones created the original products for the spa at Soho House's country retreat, Babington House. The thing is, the only space for a spa was the old cow shed. And the name stuck.

Perfumer Richard Howard originally developed products for the Cowshed spa and Soho House using ingredients from the Victorian walled garden in the grounds. Their expert formulations and ecological and therapeutic values meant guests wanted to use them at home too, so we made that happen. Each scent is designed to deliver a sensorial experience, from the calming lavender & eucalyptus of Relax, made for moments when everything feels a little too much, to the energising lemongrass, ginger, & rosemary of Active.

30 years on, some of our products have changed but our mission and values haven't. At Cowshed, we believe in wellness without rules. Our pleasure is found in unexpected places: muddy boots, cold water and untidied traces of a day well-lived. Doing what you enjoy, for yourself, no approval needed.
