Soften is Cowshed's hydrating hair range, designed to smooth, moisturise and improve manageability. It's ideal for hair that feels dry, coarse, frizzy or difficult to control.

How do I use this conditioner?

After shampooing, apply to mid-lengths and ends. Leave for 2 to 3 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. For a more intensive treatment, leave on for up to 5 minutes.

Are your hair products sulfate-free?

Yes, all Cowshed shampoos are both sulfate-free and silicone-free. We use an amino acid cleansing system that gently cleanses the hair and scalp without stripping natural oils, helping to maintain balance and support overall hair health. Our formulations are also vegan and free of parabens and mineral oils.

Is this product vegan?

Yes - this formula is vegan, with no animal-derived ingredients, and is certified cruelty-free. Our formulations are also free of parabens, mineral oils, sulfates, and silicones. We manufacture in the UK and use high-quality, plant-based ingredients inspired by Cowshed's British spa heritage.

Does this product contain parabens?

Lovely scent and works really well

I have use this product for years on a daily basis both at home and because they are used at my gym, Third Space. I noticed a number of months ago that the smell of the conditioner in the gym (Cowshed Soften Conditioner) smelled different than the Cowshed Soften Conditioner I use at home and simply did not work as well (left my hair feeling less moisturised and required me to use more to saturate myhair). I approached Third Space several times regarding this, as I seriously questioned if they were using the genuine product

Several weeks ago, I replenished my home stock and now realise that Cowshed has seemingly reformulated the product and Third Space was indeed using genuine Cowshed Soften Conditioner!

The reformulated version does not smell very nice and is simply ineffective as a conditioner.

I understand Cowshed is releasing new product lineups later this year, and I sincerely hope that this product, with its current formulation is discontinued or that they roll back to the initial formulation. It is mediocre at best in terms of effectiveness and slightly offputting in terms of scent profile.
