Cowshed's New Product Development Manager Oliya Kalashnikova isn't just the expert who formulates all our products, she's also a fan of home-grown, DIY beauty too. Here she shares some of her favourite hacks for healthy hair and skin.
My go to face mask for super hydrated, fresh skin:
Full fat Greek yoghurt
A dash of olive oil
Put them all in a blender and leave on your face for up to one hour.
Ultimate soft, high gloss hair mask:
Tablespoon of olive oil
Extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil
Put all the ingredients in a bowl with a tablespoon of your favourite hair mask (or conditioner if you don’t have a hair mask) and heat up so it’s warm, then apply on damp hair for as long as you can possibly stand!
If you don’t have time to do the above then just apply raw virgin coconut oil overnight (don’t forget your scalp as it’s where the hair health comes from). Put a silk turban on, sleep and wash off in the morning.
My all time favourite morning smoothie:
I have a warm glass of water with lemon first thing when I wake up, it cleanses the digestion system and re-hydrates the body. ... It’s a morning shower for your insides! I don’t like wasting time on having a long breakfast in the morning (I’d rather sleep), so I prep my ‘beauty’ smoothie in the evening and just blend in the morning. I don’t ever skip on fats – especially in the mornings (you’ll have all day to burn it off). Fats are essential for skin and hair health and female health.
A few strawberries/blueberries
2 tablespoons of organic ground almonds
Tablespoon of raw organic cocoa powder
Teaspoon of Turmeric (super anti-inflammatory)
Chia seeds or oats
Quarter of avocado
2 huge tablespoons of full fat Greek yogurt
Add water and blend
